Curtains for an 8-foot ceiling
An 8-foot ceiling is 96 inches high. That does not automatically mean you need 96-inch curtains. Measure where the fabric top will sit and the hem position you want.
Three nominal examples
| Fabric top above floor | Panel length | Nominal result |
|---|---|---|
| 84 inches | 84 inches | Floor kiss |
| 90 inches | 90 inches | Floor kiss |
| 94 inches | 96 inches | About 2 inches of extra fabric |
| 90 inches | 96 inches | About 6 inches of extra fabric |
These examples use the top of the fabric, not the rod, and listed dimensions rather than a measured installation. Account for the heading offset and allow space below the ceiling for the brackets and fabric.
Choose the placement together
Measure the frame height and the gap above it. A rod around 4–6 inches above the frame is a common starting point, but your chosen length may require a different placement. Mark the planned fabric top before ordering or drilling.
A 108-inch panel with its fabric top at 96 inches has around 12 inches of extra fabric. That creates a substantial puddle and is not a straight floor-length fit in this room.
Check the available size chart, read the hanging-height guide, and use the calculator.
